‘Easton’ city in Northampton County of the eastern region of Pennsylvania is the county seat of Northampton County in the USA. This city is one of the three primary cities along with Allentown and Bethlehem comprising the Lehigh Valley region. It is the third most populous metropolitan area of its country.

Situated on the confluence of the Delaware River that separates Pennsylvania from New Jersey, and the Lehigh River, for which the Lehigh Valley is named, Easton is the easternmost city of Lehigh Valley. It is the tinniest of the all three Lehigh Valley cities with the possible exception of Phillipsburg. This city is located at an equidistant from Philadelphia at 60 miles to the south and New York City and 70 miles to the east. It is well equipped with transport facilities. Air transport to and from Easton is available through Lehigh Valley International Airport that is located at approximately 15 miles west of Hanover Township.

Easton is divided into four major sections that include Historic Downtown to the north of Lehigh River to the west of the Delaware River; the West Ward that lies between Sixth and Fifteenth Streets; the South Side and the College Hill. This city is encircled with the boroughs of Wilson, West Easton and Glendon. Its main city circle is situated in the greater Easton area that accommodates three townships including Forks, Palmer and Williams and three boroughs called Glendon, West Easton and Wilson.

Easton was settled informally in 1739. But it was officially established in 1752. This city remained in the limelight due to its Indian treaties being signed during the French and Indian War. This city has contributed to the English conquest of the Ohio River Valley as well. It was a main military center during the American Revolutionary War.

According to 2000 census reports, this city has the population of 26,263. It has a total area of 4.7 square miles, of which 4.3 square miles is land and 0.4 square miles is water that includes Bushkill Creek and Lehigh and Delaware rivers.
