‘Eastlake’ City of Lake County in Ohio, the USA is remembered for being the site where Eastlake Generating Station shutdown of First Energy occurred on August 14, 2003. This major incident resultantly led to the North American blackout for a few hours.

This county seat of Painesville derives its name from its location on the southern shore of Lake Erie. As per the Census Bureau reports of the USA, this county seat has a total area of 979 square miles, out of which 228 square miles is land and 751 square miles is water. The Lake County area is the smallest county of Ohio in terms of land area.

As per the US Census Bureau estimates, Eastlake has a total area of 6.5 square miles, of which 6.4 square miles is land and 0.1 square miles is water. The 2000 census reports notes that this city inhibits 227,511 people, 8,055 households and 5,557 families. Its population density is 3,166.5 people per square mile. The city has 8,310 housing units at an average density of 1,299.1/sq mi. Its racial makeup is 97.44% Whites, 0.54% African Americans, 0.16% Native Americans, 0.97% Asians, 0.01% Pacific Islanders, 0.15% from miscellaneous races and 0.73% from two or more races. Out of its 8,055 households, 30.6% has children under the age of 18 residing in family set ups, 53.3% are married couples living together, 11.4% has a female householder minus husbands and 31.0% are non-families.
