‘Bensalem’ is a township in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, the USA. The city has Bensalem, Trevose, Oakford, Cornwells Heights, Eddington and Andalusia communities. It came into fore in 1692. It is almost as old as the state of Pennsylvania that was formed in 1682.

This city is the southernmost township in Bucks County that is bordered by Philadelphia in west and south, Croydon to its east, Bristol to its northeast, Hulmeville and Middletown Townships to its north and Feasterville, Trevose and Lower Southampton to its northwest. Beverly, Delanco and Edgewater Park Townships cross Delaware River in Burlington County in the southeast.

As per the US Census Bureau reports, this township has a total area of 21.0 square miles, of which 20.0 square miles is land and 1.0 square miles is water. Running through Bensalem, the Fall line separates Atlantic Coastal Plain region from the Piedmont region. Bensalem accommodates a large and fast-growing foreign-born population that includes large concentrations of American immigrants.

According to 2000 census, this township has 58,434 inhabitants that make it the tenth largest municipality in Pennsylvania. This city has 22,627 households and 15,114 families reside here. Its population density is 2,926.7 per square mile. It has 23,535 housing units at an average density of 1,178.8/sq mi. Its racial makeup is 82.90% Whites, 6.93% African Americans, 0.22% Native Americans, 6.61% Asians, 0.05% Pacific Islanders, 1.64% from other races and 1.65% from two or more races. It’s Hispanic or Latino race are 4.29%. The sex ratio of this city is 99.0 males for every 100 females. It has 96.9 males for every 100 females aged 18 and above.

Bensalem is home to Philadelphia Park Racetrack, which is 1 mile thoroughbred horse racing track. It began as Keystone Racetrack in November 1974. Its name was changed to Philadelphia Park in 1984. This township is also home to the Cornwells Heights SEPTA station that is the largest park and ride in the state of Pennsylvania.
