‘Bellefontaine’ is a city cum county seat of Logan County of Ohio in the USA. This city is a center of Bellefontaine Micropolitan Statistical Area as well. Another distinction of Bellefontaine is its highest point in Ohio, Campbell Hill.

Shawnee war leader, Blue Jacket built this settlement around 1777, and named it Blue Jacket's Town. It was then located as a village alongside Scioto River. The town was almost destroyed in Logan's Raid performed by Kentucky militia in 1786. It was done at the outset of Northwest Indian War. Benjamin Logan had led that expedition. Blue Jacket relocated into the northwest of Maumee River later. Revolutionary war veterans from Virginia and other areas began settling in Blue Jacket's Town from 1800.

This city was renamed to Bellefontaine in the later stages. It established itself near the edge of Virginia Military District and the Treaty of Greenville. According to the 2000 census, this city has the population of 13,069. It has 5,319 households and 3,436 families residing in the city circles. Its population density is 1,491.3 people per square mile. It has 5,722 housing units at an average density of 652.9/sq mi. Its racial makeup is 90.82% Whites, 5.13% African Americans, 0.15% Native Americans, 0.93% Asians, 0.04% Pacific Islanders and 0.53% from the miscellaneous races. Its 2.40% population is from two or more races and 1.12% is Hispanic or Latino.

Out of its 5,319 households, 34.1% have children under the age of 18. They reside with their families. 45.7% are married couples living together, 14.4% has a female bread earner without husbands and 35.4% are non-families. This city has 30.5% individual households. Its 11.9% households are of 65 years age or above. This city has the sex ratio of 100 females for every 90.9 males, and for every 100 females aged 18 and above it has 86.4 males.

Consisting of solely Logan County in Ohio, Bellefontaine is the 260th most populous region of the USA.
