Situated in Hancock County in Mississippi, ‘Bay Saint Louis’ is a part of Gulfport–Biloxi in Mississippi Metropolitan Statistical Area. It was hugely devastated in the Hurricane Katrina in August 2005.

Bay Saint Louis has a total area of 16.9 square miles, out of which 6.1 square miles is land and 10.7 square miles is water area. Its total water area is 63.70%. The Hurricane Katrina had created final landfall near Bay St. Louis at the mouth of the Pearl River with a 28-foot storm surge on August 29, 2005. The storm came ashore during high tide causing a storm tide over 30 feet deep.

This town is well-known for being the highest point on the entire Gulf of Mexico coastline. It is also famous for best restaurants like Trapani's and Dock of the Bay. Its pristine beaches are excellent tourist spots.

Hurricane Katrina had damaged over 40 libraries in Mississippi. It destroyed the roof of Bay St. Louis Public Library, which was reopened on October 12, 2005. It had damaged the Bay St. Louis Bridge on Highway 90 besides other bridges. A new bridge was built recently to replace the destroyed one. It was opened on May 17, 2007.

As per the 2000 census records this city has 8,209 inhabitants, 3,271 households and 2,064 families residing in the city circles. Its population density is 1,342.1 persons per square mile and 3,817 housing units at an average density of 624.1/sq mi. Its racial makeup is 80.23% Whites, 16.59% African Americans, 0.40% Native Americans, 1.11% Asians, 0.05% Pacific Islanders, 0.19% miscellaneous races and 1.43% from two or more races. Its Hispanic race is 1.68% of the entire population.

Bay Saint Louis has 3,271 households, of which 29.6% has children under the age of 18 living with their families, 44.0% are married couples living together, 14.7% has female householder with no husband present and 36.9% are non-families.

The sex ratio of this city is for every 100 females there are 92.0 males. For every 100 females aged 18 and above this city has 88.0 males.
